Fairfield Dental Studio

Getting your kids to sit still for five minutes feels like an achievement on most days. But those regular dental visits are worth the effort — and we are not just talking about keeping cavities at bay.

When should kids start seeing the dentist?

The Australian Dental Association recommends booking that first appointment by age one, or within six months of their first tooth popping through. Starting young gets your child familiar with the chair, the lights and the sounds. It becomes part of their normal routine instead of something scary.

What happens during a checkup?

The dentist inspects each tooth for decay, examines the gums and watches how teeth are erupting. A professional clean removes plaque that brushing misses, and fluoride helps strengthen enamel. We also teach kids how to brush and floss, and talk about sugary drinks in a way they understand.

What about the cost?

If your child is eligible for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), they can access up to $1,095 worth of dental treatment over two years through Medicare. We bulk-bill eligible children aged 2–17. It is worth checking eligibility when you book.

Most kids should have a checkup every six months. Our clinic has ceiling-mounted Netflix screens, gentle techniques and a team who know how to connect with young patients. Book online or call (07) 3846 2006.
