Tooth Removal

Tooth Removal

When a tooth is damaged beyond repair, tooth extraction may be the only solution so that one doesn’t experience pain and infection. While we will do our best to save your natural teeth, some situations demand extraction. Some of those may be:

• Excessive decay and cavities
• Infected tooth
• Severely broken tooth
• Loose tooth
• Partially erupted tooth
• Uncontrolled infection
• Teeth crowding or misalignment
• Impacted wisdom tooth
• To make space for orthodontic treatment

Your dentist will first examine the tooth and will need an x-ray to be sure of the appropriate method for tooth removal. You will need to give a detailed medical history including any medications you are taking to avoid any complications. A tooth extraction can be a simple removal or need surgical extraction depending on its complexity. Sometimes, it is difficult to predict its outcome. Not often, but at times we may need to refer cases to a specialist to avoid risks and complications.

At Fairfield Dental Studio, our dentists have years of experience with tooth extractions. We make sure your tooth is completely numb beforehand. If you are anxious, you can always try our happy gas or oral sedatives to calm you. We will not only look after you during the appointment but will give you a ring after a few days to see how you are doing. The cost of extractions depends on complexity — give us a call or make an appointment to discuss more.
